It is situated on the\u00a0Nainital\u00a0road 30 kilometres (19\u00a0mi) from\u00a0Rampur\u00a0on\u00a0NH-87\u00a0and 15\u00a0km from\u00a0Rudrapur. 30% of the population is\u00a0Muslim, 20% are\u00a0Gangwar,\u00a0Lodhi, 20% are\u00a0Sikhs\u00a0and the remaining 30% is\u00a0Kayastha,\u00a0Khatri,\u00a0Jatav, and\u00a0Bania\u00a0and other castes. The main source of income is farming and Business, although new industries are coming. The major crops are rice, wheat, pea, sugarcane and vegetables. Mango, guava and papaya are grown here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Geography<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bilaspur is located at\u00a028.889\u00b0N 79.266\u00b0E. It has an average elevation of 144\u00a0metres (472\u00a0feet).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Demographics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of the\u00a02001 Census of India,<sup>[1]<\/sup>\u00a0Bilaspur had a population of 35,729. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Languages<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While\u00a0Hindi\u00a0and\u00a0Urdu\u00a0are respectively the official and second official languages of the state of\u00a0Uttar Pradesh,\u00a0Punjabi\u00a0is spoken by 47% of the population of Bilaspur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Administration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bilaspur Municipal Board<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This body is responsible for administration of Bilaspur Town area. Present chairman of the municipal board is Chitrak Mittal, while charge of Executive officer is with SDM Mayank Goswami P.C.S .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Assembly Representative &amp; District Magistrate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The present MLA and SDM of Bilaspur are Shri Baldev Singh Aulakh and Shri Mayank Goswami P.C.S respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Education<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bilaspur has one engineering college, Apex Institute of Technology and one nursing college, PSM Nursing College.
